Ayurvedic Foot Reflexology in Edinburgh
This treatment incorporates Ayurvedic principles and techniques into the traditional Reflexology treatment. Ayurveda, meaning 'Knowledge of Life' is an Indian holistic medical system which has been practiced over the last 5000 years, aiming to create physical and mental harmony with nature.
During the treatment warm sesame oil is applied to the foot, lower leg and knee and pressure is applied to reflex points and marma points.
Marma's are vital energy points connected to energy channels throughout the body and it is proposed that working on these points restores balance in the body. The techniques are quite firm and invigorating, however pressure can be adapted to suit your needs. A Kasa bowl (pictured above) is a small handmade bronze bowl used to massage the soles of the feet, lower leg and knee in circular motions. In Ayurvedic tradition the bowl is said to assist in removing toxins from the body, facilitate the flow of energy and restore balance to body and mind.
"Wonderful Ayurvedic Reflexology massage from the very talented Pamela earlier today, hot oils on feet in this cold & wet weather felt sublime!" Lyn Halley, Edinburgh, 01/02/2016
