Reflexology in Edinburgh
Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, hands, face and ears correspond to different areas of the body. Reflexologists believe that by applying pressure to these points, known as reflex points, that there will be a positive corresponding impact on that area of the body. Reflexologists use their thumbs, knuckles and fingers to apply pressure to the reflex points, this pressure can be adapted to suit your needs. The treatment should be primarily relaxing however you may experience tenderness in some reflex areas which may signify an imbalance in that area of the body, this can be explained to you following the treatment. Reflexologists work holistically to treat the whole person and treatments can be adapted to your individual needs. Reflexology does not propose to diagnose or cure medical conditions and should not be used as an alternative to medical advice.
We are all unique and will respond to Reflexology in different ways, however most people report the treatment to be relaxing. Reflexology may also be beneficial for improving sleep, improving mood, releasing tension, reducing stress, restoring balance and improving wellbeing. Following a treatment some people may experience a mild headache, tiredness or cold like symptoms, this is what Reflexologists term a healing response which is a normal reaction.
The principle of Reflexology is that the whole foot represents a map of the entire body incorporating each body system, every gland and organ. Please click on the foot map below to learn more:
